Year 4 Honeycomb

Welcome to Year 4!

We are excited for a fantastic year of learning, creativity, and curiosity in Team Honeycomb. Below you will find key information about our routines, expectations, and what we are learning this term - check back regularly for updates. We are looking forward to working in partnership with you to ensure a successful and happy year for your children. Let's be the best we can be!

PE Days

  • Our PE days are Tuesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor) this term.
  • Please ensure that your child has the appropriate PE kit (Ropley PE T-shirt, shorts/ joggers and trainers) in school on both days.
  • Long hair must be tied back and earring tape worn if children have earrings that are newly pierced or cannot be removed independently.

Home Learning

Reading

  • Children should read at home as often as possible.
  • Home reading should be recorded in reading records at least x5 per week.
  • Reading records will be checked in school regularly to monitor progress.
  •  Please ensure that your child has a reading book in school every day.

Spelling

  • Our spelling day is Friday.
  • Children will be given spellings and tested on spellings from the previous week every Friday.
  • Children must ensure they have their blue spelling book in school on Fridays so new spellings can be issued.

Times Tables

  • In preparation for the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC), children should practice their times tables regularly using Times Tables Rockstars.

  • Children should spend at least 20 minutes per week practising. This can be completed in one block or spread out during the week.

  • Times Tables Challenge is every Wednesday. Children will bring their challenge home, so progress can be monitored and successes celebrated at home.
