Welcome Bishop Kelly

6 of our children were part of the welcome service for Bishop Kelly who is the new Bishop of Basingstoke.  They presented her with three gifts to represent our school values of Love, Courage and Community.

To represent Love, we gave her a portable first aid kit.  Just like the Good Samaritan, we hope this first aid kit will help her if she meets anyone that is hurt and remind her that anyone can receive love and help from people, even if they’re different from you.

To represent Courage we gave her a smooth stone. We are learning about David, from the Bible - even though he was just a small boy, he had courage to defeat the Giant Goliath.  We hope that this stone will remind Bishop Kelly to have courage when faced with big challenges, and to remember when God has been with her before.

To represent Community we gave her a bread maker. Bread is a really important symbol in the Bible, in our village Ropley and at church. At harvest we learnt how Boaz let Ruth harvest wheat at the edges of the fields and we learnt to share with those who are in need.
