We enjoyed learning about Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell in History. We considered the similarities and differences between them and their work. We were also fortunate to have a visit from a modern-day nurse who has worked in a war zone, just like the nurses we were studying. She told us how difficult it is to keep everything clean when there is a sandstorm! She also taught us how to wash our hands properly to help us stop the spread of germs – just like Florence Nightingale who taught other nurses the importance of hygiene!
