We are looking for a Co-Opted Governor - Please see our advert on the 'About Us/Staff and Governors' tab

We are also looking for a Clerk to Governors.  Please see details below:

At Ropley Primary School we believe a Clerk to Governors plays a critical role in the running of the school. You will work closely with the Chair of the Governing Body and the Headteacher to co-ordinate the running of the Full Governing Body and Committee meetings including:

  • Agenda Setting
  • Coordinating communication and papers
  • Minute taking
  • Advising on practice and policy with reference to national frameworks and guidance
  • Checking that the Governor pages of the school website, and the DfE School Details are accurate and up-to-date and liaising with the Chair of Governors or Headteacher with regard to compliance

Most meetings are held in the evening between 6.00pm and 8.30pm, although in the current climate some meetings are taking place during the day via Zoom. In addition, you may be asked to support any Governor panels required to hear complaints or exclusions. These are rare and held with plenty of notice.

You need to be highly organised, flexible with good organisational skills and proven administration experience. Attention to detail and good typing skills with experience of minute taking and meeting organisation is also essential.

A motivated self-starter, you will be able to work under your own initiative, manage deadlines, and keep accurate records. The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is essential. As part of this role, you are required to undertake the clerks’ development programme as well as the 'accredited clerk qualification'.

Although the role is mostly home-based, travel to school is required. It is a requirement of the role that you have access to the internet, a home computer, Microsoft Word (or a compatible application) and a printer as most of the work will be home-based.

This is a permanent, part time role of approximately 66 hours per annum.  Salary is annualised and paid monthly.

Please download and complete the application form below and return to the school office.
