At Ropley C.E Primary School, we support a number of charitable events throughout the year.  Although we support the national fundraisers, such as Children In Need, Sport Relief, Comic Relief and Cancer Research, we also support smaller, more local charities such as the Foodbank and Mission Christmas.

Alton Foodbank

This Harvest we again supported Alton Foodbank which is part of the Trussell Group.  We collected a huge amount of food and welcomed Ian Dane, manager of Alton Foodbank, who came into our Whole School Assembly to talk to the children about the vital work they do.

For more information on how you can support the foodbank please visit their website: https://alton.foodbank.org.uk/

Bag2School

We held our bi-annual Bag2School collection in November and raised £192.80 with 482kg of clothing.

We are pleased to advise that we will be a donation point for Women’s Aid.

Womens Aid supports women and children who are victims of domestic abuse and have often had to leave their homes and all of their belongings behind.  They support them by providing a safe place to stay and help them to empower themselves to move forward with their lives.

Any donations of new or nearly new cosmetics, toiletries, clothing and small toys can all be donated.  New sanitary products are also needed.  If its good enough to pass onto a friend or family member then it’s good enough to donate.

Items are collected weekly by one of our parents and taken to the local refuge.  Thank you for your support.  If you would like more information on how you can help please visit their website: https://www.womensaid.org.uk

Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

We are delighted to again be able to support the Poppy Appeal.  Our children were able to purchase child friendly items as well as the traditional paper poppy.  Our Carpenter Bee class also made poppies to hang from our tree and wrote poems and made pictures while considering the impact of the war, and those who lost their lives, on our lives today.

Mission Christmas

This year, we will again be a donation centre for Mission Christmas which is a local initiative that supports those families in our area where Christmas is a luxury they just cannot afford.  Our parents and local residents are asked to donate a gift which will be distributed by Mission Christmas to nominated families across the region.
